The alpacas pay us a visit!

In February, we arranged a visit to our setting from Wymondham Alpacas, as part of our Communication Hub offering. This fun, unusual event brought in a lot of intrigued families and passers-by. We were also joined by the reception classes and parents from local Recreation Road school. Fun facts about the animals inspired a lot of conversations.

We emphasised lots of descriptive language and talked about the alpacas’ fleecy coats and how they are waterproof and warmer than sheep wool and not as itchy. We introduced the children to new vocabulary, including their names: a baby alpaca is called a cria; a female is a hembra and a male is a macho.
